Practical Ideas
For Discipling Your Children
-
Spend time with your children! Nurture your relationship with them.
The stronger the relationship, the greater opportunity you have to pour truth into their life. Take
them (and maybe some of their friends) to the park, go get an ice cream cone, go on a 'date' with your child.
-
Follow up on what your child learned in Church (Worship, KidMo, Sunday School.)
-
Encourage your child to have personal time with God, including prayer, Bible
reading and study.
My Bridge Radio One-Year Bible Plan
-
Teach your child how to actually study the Bible. You may have to learn
this yourself first.
-
Discuss with your child what you or they have been learning from your personal time
with God.
-
Challenge your children to incorporate the '5 Daily Decisions' into their life.
-
Have family worship time. This may include music, prayer, Bible reading and discussion, Bible memorization, etc.
Just keep it simple so you don't get overwhelmed. You don't have to be a theologian; you just need to love them!
-
Discuss current events at the dinner table and apply Biblical truth to them.
-
Get involved in a life group or start a new one! The accountability and life-on-life opportunities available here
are tremendous. Consider involving your children in your life group (several already do.) Contact Life Group
Coordinator Craig Burnside for help with this.
-
Have fellow believers over for dinner and share ideas on how to disciple your children or how to apply the
message from Sunday morning.
-
If you believe a ministry opportunity is being missed with a child or family, invite them to your home or to visit
the park with your
kids. Nurture a relationship with them and let them see Christ in you.
